WaMe reads WhatsApp Web in your own browser and writes exports to your own disk. It does not upload your chats to us, and we keep no copy of your conversations, contacts or media.
Content leaves your computer only when you send it somewhere: an integration you set up (Slack, Notion, Zapier, Make, a webhook, automatic forwarding), a chat you hand to ChatGPT or Claude, or the Claude connector you install. Each goes to the service you chose, under that service's own privacy terms — never to us.
What our server does hold is a small amount of operational data, tied to a random install ID — not to your name, phone number or WhatsApp account. It is listed below.
| Data | On your computer | On our server | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chats, contacts, media, exports | Yes | Never | The purpose of the tool |
| Settings, templates, bookmarks, number history | Yes | Never | Your preferences |
| Content you send to an integration or AI tool | Yes | Never — it goes to the service you chose | Only when you use that feature |
| Random install ID | Yes | Yes | Ties a licence, a bug report and a consent record to the same install |
| Licence key and its status | Yes | Yes | To unlock WaMe Pro |
| Email address | — | Only if you type one in to request a key | To send you that key |
| Bug reports and feedback you send | — | Yes | So a broken feature can be fixed and your message answered |
| Consent records (what you agreed to, when, browser string, masked network address) | — | Yes | Proof you were asked before anything risky ran |
| Usage statistics | — | Only if you opted in | Which features to fix first |
The network address in a consent record is masked before it is written —
203.0.113.42 becomes 203.0.113.0: enough to corroborate a record,
not enough to identify a household. Bug reports include technical details (errors and which
WhatsApp Web internals loaded) only if you leave that box ticked, and never message text,
names or phone numbers.
No usage event is sent before you opt in — a separate, unticked box on the terms screen shown the first time WaMe opens in WhatsApp Web. You can change your mind at any time in the WaMe popup → Settings → Share anonymous usage stats; turning it off stops it immediately.
Events carry feature names, counts and date ranges — never message content, phone numbers, chat names or anything you typed. They are sent to our server, which removes those fields again as a safeguard and forwards the events to Google Analytics 4 for aggregate reporting.
We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or use it for anything unrelated to running WaMe.
Wherever you live, and specifically under the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California), you can see what we hold about your install and have it deleted.
Both work from inside the extension, with no account, email or form: open the WaMe panel on WhatsApp Web → Privacy & your data, then Show everything you hold or Delete it all. Uninstalling WaMe removes everything it stored in your browser; files you exported stay wherever you saved them.
Use the 🐞 Report button in the WaMe panel on WhatsApp Web — choose Feature request for questions that are not about a bug. Every message is read.
If what WaMe collects changes, this page changes with it, and the effective date above is updated.
